Just something I received today..funny but who's laughing? I like to think it is a case of a small minority, well edited for the theme or a case of mental block..hey, could happen to anyone!
Still, enjoy the video! I like the vision of Tony Blair as a skater and there was WW3? And where is Iran or even North Korea again?

Trip to the Orthodontist
My last day of leisure before spiralling into the deep fulfilling vortex of 'employment'! Thank goodness! Looking forward to it!
The little sliver of an outing was had by taking Tanya to the Ortho..her first and by the looks of it all set to be last! Her convent school is 1 hour by bus and for me by car should have been a mere 20 minutes (to pick her up during lunch break)..but as always I lose my way..why? no idea except for the fact I have learnt to reach the school down the long winding wrong road so I get lost every single time before getting back on track. Tanya says she does not understand why. She says follow the signpost to the village, mum and my school is very conveniently and very clearly perched on top of a hill to be seen for miles around. Simple logic for an 11 year old..I am the one perched atop the hill, slowly but surely going over...
The Orthodontist was a nice enough man but there felt a sense of deja vu when he said to Tanya that she does not need braces and has a perfect set of teeth, very healthy and to be proud of, and sent us on our way! I was transported back to those few years ago when my cousin and I (both sporting a perfect mouthful of dentures)took an autorickshaw one fine morning to Trivandrum Dental College and said to the Ortho 'we both require braces!' only to be sent off on our way with a click of the tongue and a roll of the eyes..'teenagers!'

Indie, the Yorkshire Terrier Terror!
6 am! Woke up to whining and pawing. Pitch black! Indie can be very naughty and run off to the main road every time he's let out so I usually put him onto a garden leash. But surely at this time of the morning, he will be too tired to do anything but his business and come straight back?!
So out he goes while I put the kettle and the laptop on! 10 mins later, loud barking rouses me up from my nice warm cuppa and I rush outside with a coat over my nightie and bare slippers, pulling at a poop bag and leash and keys! Indie gets all excited at seeing mama out to play and rushes out to the main road! I try to keep my cool and just hiss 'you bad bad boy! Just you wait till I get my hands on you!' which falls on very excited ears. Mama's voice in the cold dark quiet of the night, huh, she must want to play..so there goes a mad dog from one neighbour's garden to another, down one avenue to another until I decide to turn my back on him and walk the other way..
Oh, so this is how she wants to play this game..okay here goes, Indie races back down the wellworn track and gives me a rollover for a little pat and cuddle. I leap on him and leash him up in one full (in)elegant swoop. And what does he get for his misdemeanor? a slap on his paw and straight back in with the cross words' bad boy' ringing in his ears? Nope, a step into the well lit street and a walk round the block!
There's always time for 'lessons' next time..he does have me twisted round his little paw, my little Indiana!

'Britain's Got Talent' and Tanya
70713..Tanya's number at the auditions. Got there for the registration on a cold morning at the plush Renaissance Hotel in Manchester. Tanya was cool as a cucumber. We did have to stand back out in the rain for the filming which I did not enjoy as I had not bothered with my coat. What a mistake, I soon realise! J dropped us off and went to the Trafford Centre to while away the time and we sat around watching others practice and also being filmed. Tanya sat among all the singers and there seemed quite a lot of 11 year olds..must have been a morning for young ones! There were juggling acts, drama, dance , musical instruments etc etc. Our area seemed the most low-key as no one was garishly dressed or overpowering.
When the time came, a couple of hours later, Tanya was ushered into a room with a silver X marked spot where she had to stand and I sat on a chair in a corner. There was just a TV producer and a cameraman. Tanya gave it everything she got and I thought she looked very sweet and sang her best to Mariah Carey's 'Hero'!. The man did point out that she had a beaming smile!
We will hear of a callback by January. Then also we do not see the famous judges until the time after that when the 100s of 1000s will be whittled down to a few 100s. I wish Tanya all the best. Whatever the outcome, she will have learned something positive from the experience and plans to do this every year until it is time for the X factor. Her own choices, her own decisions..J and I are happy to stand by and support her.
Froze to death (quite close anyway) while waiting through the rushhour for J to pick us up..45 mins in minus degrees and did I have a coat? I am still in the Indian hot summer mode of thinking as I died and went to **** and back a few times!!!

All's Well That Ends Well
It has turned out well at the end. I am off to snuggle with my two girls and Indiana, the dog and watch a little bit of television..something I do not do very much. Both Tasha and Tanya have asked me for a little piece of me today and why not? Tom is coming home next weekend instead! J is watching the news and then he will take over on the laptop!
Tash was taken to the Walk In Centre to see the doctor for her severe ear-ache last night. The blood on the ear bud did tell us what we expected to hear..she has a perforated ear drum!!! Antibiotics should do the trick. Anyway, she still decided to treat the family to dinner and shopped for all the ingredients for chicken fajitas and that is what we had tonight. Yum! Nice treat from our 18 year old!
Am getting as much entered into my blog diary as I can before I opt out for lack of time. Tanya has her auditions first thing in the morning so we are off early to bed as I have a long drive ahead of me at 8 am! It does not matter if she does not get through to the next stage..every experience counts and this will be positive no matter what the outcome. Will keep you posted! literally!
Bye for now, blog!

second day of blogging
This is my second day of blogging. I had never envisaged myself doing anything like this until I was 'shown the light' by a friend. Still learning...and I do have nightmares about it.
This is my leisure week having just returned from a family wedding in India and moving to a new job starting next week. I will need to find the time to blog once the fulltime job starts. I also cook and clean and look after a very cute yorkie, my Tasha's dog. She's away at university and I am responsible for him in her absence (actually in her presence too). Tanya, soon-to-be-12 has a TV audition for Britain's got Talent. She is talented but above all, she loves to perform. I just hope she enjoys what she does and that Simon Cowell won't be nasty and break her spirit!
Tom is coming home from University too to spend the weekend with us so it should be fun with 5 people and a dog!
Actually this seems like fun. Just putting thoughts into words for no apparent reason than it being better than leaving them in a forgotten diary on the bedroom shelf. Just blog them for the world to see..and watch moments recorded than have them fade away from the recesses of your memory!
Tanya almost missed her school bus today as I had to stop the car enroute to the bus stop to de-ice the windscreen. Only November and it is freezing already! I am actually excited about the new season. The dark days do not seem to bother me and winter and Christmas have to go together in my opinion..maybe I have lived in England for too long..more years than I have lived in my birth country, India. Those days it seemed the thing to do...leave our country for pastures new for a better life for us and our children. But now I have noticed, people opt to stay in India as the economy boom has finally hit our country. My sister rejects any proposals from abroad for her children (we still have arranged marriages where we can) as she does not see the joy of living anywhere but in our own land. Fair enough! I do like living here though and the kids see this as home although they enjoy their annual trips to mum and dad's birthland too.
I feel recharged after the two week break and ready to tackle housework and multitasking that we have to do in developed countries to get things done. However, it was so nice to be waited on hand and foot for two weeks! Perhaps winning that lottery would give me the best of all worlds!!!Keep on dreaming....

My first entry

Hurrah!
I finally did it! I thought writing took up too much time so I have put it aside for 22 years apart from the barrage of emails I send to all who care to read or not..poor mites don't have a chance! Then I found myself with an e-pal, a famous writer no less, who advised me to become a blogger! What is a blogger, I thought and with a little research under my belt, voila! a day on and I am posting my first blog! So finally I become a writer...a blog writer of the 21st century..and I do not require to find a publisher for people to read what I have written!
Thanks Big Al...this should keep me quiet for sometime.
