70713..Tanya's number at the auditions. Got there for the registration on a cold morning at the plush Renaissance Hotel in Manchester. Tanya was cool as a cucumber. We did have to stand back out in the rain for the filming which I did not enjoy as I had not bothered with my coat. What a mistake, I soon realise! J dropped us off and went to the Trafford Centre to while away the time and we sat around watching others practice and also being filmed. Tanya sat among all the singers and there seemed quite a lot of 11 year olds..must have been a morning for young ones! There were juggling acts, drama, dance , musical instruments etc etc. Our area seemed the most low-key as no one was garishly dressed or overpowering.
When the time came, a couple of hours later, Tanya was ushered into a room with a silver X marked spot where she had to stand and I sat on a chair in a corner. There was just a TV producer and a cameraman. Tanya gave it everything she got and I thought she looked very sweet and sang her best to Mariah Carey's 'Hero'!. The man did point out that she had a beaming smile!
We will hear of a callback by January. Then also we do not see the famous judges until the time after that when the 100s of 1000s will be whittled down to a few 100s. I wish Tanya all the best. Whatever the outcome, she will have learned something positive from the experience and plans to do this every year until it is time for the X factor. Her own choices, her own decisions..J and I are happy to stand by and support her.
Froze to death (quite close anyway) while waiting through the rushhour for J to pick us up..45 mins in minus degrees and did I have a coat? I am still in the Indian hot summer mode of thinking as I died and went to **** and back a few times!!!
